Alpine Pass

When a family settles into an area and a home, it can be difficult to leave the roots you've already planted. For these homeowners, moving to a new neighborhood wasn't the first thought when considering more space for a growing family. In order to make this location their forever home, the best place to go was up. We removed the roof and added a second story that ties into their existing upstairs area above the garage. In doing so, we were able to add a loft space, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Our clients also wanted to add some curb appeal to their home, which we did by adding all new shake siding, millboard accents, and a small two-story addition to the front entry. This addition, coupled with a main floor gut and some re-working of existing pieces helped to add better flow to the home. An open staircase centered on the entry replaced the old 2nd story access while adding a design element that can't easily be overlooked. We also added an expansive mudroom for coat drops on cold winter days and a deck that stretched across the back of the home for those summer nights when dinner outside only makes sense.
